Political Correctness Gone Mad!
When you think of Christmas, there are several associations you automatically think ok: Father Christmas, Carol Singing, Nativity etc etc. I suppose it really depends on how religious you are. Personally I think Christmas is great for both highly religious people who want to remember the birth of Christ and for those that just want to enjoy exchanging presents and filling their guts with turkey and Christmas pudding….
Now to my point! We have been celebrating Christmas for years, and our Children have been dressing up and performing the nativity in schools for years, and this is doing nobody any harm. It is part of our tradition. But this year there have been several things I have noticed in the media which I cannot understand!
Correct me if I am wrong, but it was decided that Father Christmas was not allowed on Oxford street this year, as he may offend people of other religions. Now there are two problems I have with this, 1 I don’t remember hearing that Father Christmas was leaning over a cot giving Jesus a nice present! And although he is a representation of modern Christmas, you are going to have to be pretty simple to be offended of some old guy with a red outfit and a beard charging a few quid to give out presents to children.
Secondly I read that some primary schools had decided, again not to offend people of other religions not to do a nativity this year! Now don’t get me wrong, I have nothing against people of other ethnic origins or religions, I two friends that are Muslim, and I find all of their religious celebrations fascinating. But the thing that really gets my goat is when people from completely different backgrounds move into a country like England and then tell us that we should change our traditions, or the way we live our lives to suit them!
Now if the glove was on the other hand and we asked Hindu of Muslim people not to celebrate their religions, or maybe to keep their celebrations to them selves, because it offends… there would be some serious trouble.
So please, someone can you please tell me how this can be justified, because I think it is just political correctness gone mad!

Thank you for your constructive comments, I do hope your mother is proud of you! Here is a question for you... Am I the moron for writting such a post, or are you the moron for searching for it on google??? Or by wasting my time and yours by posting such a comment. Maybe it is because you actually don't have a life. Possibly a question that will never be answered.
Anyway.... Thanks again for your post MORON!

I am sick and tired of people of other religions and cultures coming to this country and telling us what to do. This is our country and if people want to come and live in the uk fine, practice your religion but do not force us to obay your old rules and laws. I am white christian and if i went to live in any muslim country and told muslims they couldent do this festival or that THERE WOULD BE A WAR! I wholeheartedly agree with Craig but I fear it is too late for the UK because of the events of the last ten years namely those of the Uk Government
